What is in your Inbox?

Who are you?

Yes, I know your name… but I ask again

 WHO ARE YOU????

The Inbox exhibition in the Babel, in Utrecht has made you think of this kind of questions…

What is your identity? In how many groups and identities you live in the society? Which is the most important for you? Does it change during your life? What is your relation with other people? How do these relations affect your behaviour in a concrete situation?

If you walk further through the exhibition you find more and more questions to meditate on…

How we categorize people around us? Do our stereotypes influence us when we create boxes for the people who we meet in our mind? Is it possible that these boxes can be false, hurtful or even dangerous?

Are we able to keep our opinion against the mass or an authority? My answer was “of course!” for this question, but after that I watched some videos about psychological experiments I wasn’t that sure any more…

And what about you?

Another part of the exhibition is about local and worldwide conflicts. We, as different people all the time have various point of views about everything. It comes from our family and educational background, the environment where we grew up or live at the moment, the work what we are doing and lots of other effect. These discrepancies can cause conflicts or even violent acts. During looking around in this room of the exhibition I was just thinking which is the point when we can still stop these incidents?

Do you think it is possible to avoid the social conflicts or we have to live with them?

If you want to know what is in your “Inbox”, don’t hesitate, just come, watch and touch!

Unfortunately the exhibition is over now in Utrecht but you can visit it in Amsterdam (NDSM-werf (Kinetisch Noord) and later in Rotterdam as well. More information: http://tentoonstelling.criticalmass.nu/index.php
